Pythagoras

The most popular form of numerology is based upon the work of Pythagoras (left) the Greek mathematician who lived in the 6th Century BCE.  Pythagoras believed that numbers were the basis of everything and that everything in the Universe has a numerical value.

Numerology

Numerology is an ancient method of studying numbers which has been used for thousands of years.  It is used to give insight into people’s personalities and their motivation in life.

Using your birth date and name, it is possible to analyse your character.  They believe it can be helpful in getting to know yourself better and achieve a balance in your life.  When we know our good points and bad points, our strengths and weaknesses, we can begin to work on achieving a balanced lifestyle.  We can also stop feeling guilty over things we have little or no control over.

There are many ways of working out your numerology number, but we are going to start by working out our birth date and name numbers.

Birth Date Number

In Numerology, there are essentially nine personality types and everybody falls into one of these types.  Therefore, your number will be in the range of 1 – 9.

  1. Write out your full date of birth

 i.e : 1.12.1962

  1. Add together the numbers in each section

                       i.e: 1+1+2+1+9+6+2 = 22

  1. Reduce this number to a single digit

                       i.e : 2+2 = 4

  1. This is your birth date number.  Look up the meaning – do you agree?

 Name Numbers

Your name number is not as significant as your birth date number as you are not tied to your name like you are to your birth date.  We may change our names through choice or marriage, but our birth date never changes.  You can discover your name number by using the Pythagorean number conversion chart.  Again, reduce the number to a single digit and look up the meaning.
