COLOURS OF THE SPECTRUM and BEYOND
Sunlight is essential for colour, without sunlight we could not live. Colours created by sunlight have great healing power, its therapeutic uses were known about in ancient cultures. The Egyptians used different coloured ointments and practiced in rooms painted in healing shades.
Within the last century, therapists have developed the use of colour to help us heal ourselves. Each colour in the spectrum vibrates at its own rate and these vibrations correspond with the body’s inner vibrations. When we are stressed, tired, or generally feel under the weather, we can use colour to cheer us up, this can come from our clothes, food, home furnishings, lights, all these can create the atmosphere to let your mind heal your body. Here are a few colours to make us feel good.
Red eases stiff muscles and joints, especially in the legs and feet. Red is a good tonic for a sluggish circulation or for anyone who catches colds easily. A warm colour so wear it on cold days. It also encourages conversation and is a good colour for those with low blood pressure. Can bring out the passionate side of you, but use sparingly as it could make you aggressive..
Yellow is the colour of sunshine and summer, helping release depression. It helps get rid of toxins and stimulates the appetite. It represents intelligence, stimulates mental activity, encourages rational thinking when making decisions. It is a great pick-me-up and is the colour of intellect, study, revision, and wear when taking examinations.

White Universal Spirit, helps to see the whole picture, the harshness of salt to the smooth feel of marble, a non-judgemental colour, cool, clean, pure in mind, spirit and actions. In choosing white it may mean we are thinking it is time some changes were made, if this is so, make the changes gradually or it could make others feel insecure. Counsellors may benefit with which and turquoise ribbons in their therapy room, to keep clients cool and stress free.
Pink unconditional love, friendship in all its forms, helps us to forgive others as well as ourselves, a passionate colour always finding a cause to investigate. Where there is emotional pain, pink absorbs the sadness, it was believed in ancient times that a rose quartz would shatter instead of breaking our heart, if you have been hurt emotionally wrap that pain in pink, say out loud 'I am no longer prepared to feel the way you made me feel' then think of green to regenerate.
