What is a Chakra?

Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel and it refers to each of the seven energy centres of which our energy system is composed.  These energy centres regulate the flow of energy through our energy system reflecting the decisions we make and how we choose to respond to situations in our lives.  We open and close our chakras when we decide what to think and feel, and through which perceptual filter we choose to experience the world around us.

Using a Chakra Kit

A Chakra kit contains seven crystals corresponding to the colours as detailed below.  Good choices are; clear quartz, amethyst, blue lace agate, rose quartz or aventurine, yellow jasper or citrine, carnelian, ruby, red jasper or garnet and obsidian, tourmaline or jet, depending upon availability and choice.   You may wish to check if your chakras are open before you begin.  To do this you will need a pendulum dowser.  You can purchase these from shops which sell crystals or you can make your own using a length of string, cord or a silver chain and attaching a weight to the bottom of it.  This could be a button or a pendant.

First, you need to establish what is ‘yes’ and what is ‘no’.

To do this, hold the pendulum over your hand and ask for your ‘yes’, making sure your hand is steady. The pendulum should spin gently clockwise or anti-clockwise Then, using the same method, ask for your ‘no’. Then, making sure your hand is steady, hold your pendulum in front of each chakra point of your body (or the person you are performing the healing for) and it will spin or stay static.  If it indicates ‘yes’ your chakra is open and flowing well.  If it indicates ‘no’, then your chakra is blocked and needs to be opened.  If your pendulum is static or it moves from side to side or shakes, then your chakra is attempting to open and will need only a little work to open it.  A chakra healing will help to balance and re-align your chakras.

Chakra Healing

A chakra healing will help to balance and re-align your chakras.

Using the diagram above, lay the crystals on your body

Crown Chakra – colour - lilac to white - located at the top of your head

Third Eye Chakra – colour – purple – located on the brow

Throat Chakra – colour - blue - located at the throat

Heart Chakra – colour - green – located in the heart area

Solar Plexus Chakra – colour - yellow – located above the navel

Sacral Chakra – colour - orange - located just below the navel

Root Chakra  - colour - black – located at the base of the spine

Now, close your eyes, relax and breathe deeply.  Feel your troubles melt away as you absorb the energies of the crystals.

Imagine a white light surrounding your body, protecting and nurturing you.  Then, in turn, envisage each of the chakra colours cleansing your body.

First, imagine a deep red or black light swirling at the base of your spine, opening your base chakra.  Then an orange light at your sacral chakra and so on until you have envisioned all of your chakra points swirling and opening, cleansing your body and your mind.

When you have finished, you may feel a little light headed.  Don’t attempt anything strenuous for the rest of the day, or until you feel ready.  It is best to try this exercise when you have a ‘free’ day, at the weekend perhaps.  You can work with somebody else, opening their chakras for them – it is up to the individual(s).

I hope you enjoy your healing.

Please feel free to email if you would like further information or help when choosing colours
